REFLECTIONS ESTATE – 14 January 2008
REFLECTIONS ESTATE TAKES WATER & THE ENVIRONMENT SERIOUSLY
Construction of the first land stage at Reflections Estate is now complete and two further stages are under construction. Soon the skyline will be dotted with homes under construction. By mid-year, extensive landscaping and the Reflections Display Village will transform what is currently a dry paddock into a genuine landscaped community, with the first residents expected to have moved in.
As the developers of Reflections Estate, National Pacific Properties, are serious about the environment, Reflections’ gardens and streetscapes will be designed with water management in mind.
For private gardens, the Reflections Estate design guidelines require the installation of rainwater tanks to achieve at least 20% saving in potable (drinking) water. These simple to follow estate design guidelines also provide helpful landscape suggestions on ways to save water when planning and while establishing gardens. Developer rebates will help to keep out of pocket expenses to a minimum.
Public parklands, streets and boulevards will be planted with a mix of both native and exotic trees and plants. Great care is being taken in the selection of drought tolerant species to limit the amount of water required to establish and then maintain the extensively landscaped public areas.
Construction of the Reflections Wetlands Park will commence shortly. These wetlands will be much more than just a beautiful place for families to explore nature, with rock walls set amongst the landscaping, extensive walking and cycling paths, and a boardwalk complete with a viewing platform. These wetlands will be an important contributor to environmental sustainability in the Tarneit area.
The wetlands have been designed to take the stormwater run-off from the large catchment upstream and, through a natural filtering system, strip out nutrients and sediments before releasing the water into downstream waterways. The wetlands will also have a valuable role in preventing downstream flooding in times of heavy rainfall.
Land sales have been strong, with all of Stages 1 & 2 sold out. Interest in the estate has remained strong throughout the holiday period, clearly showing that the public has embraced the vision for this affordable, high quality, estate which takes environmental sustainability seriously.
